A new diagnosis can come with a lot of different thoughts and feelings, even if you’ve been expecting or waiting for this diagnosis for quite some time.

Whatever you’re feeling, whatever you’re thinking, and however you’re coping is 100% ok. There is no “right” way to incorporate this new diagnosis into your life. But the process of incorporating this diagnosis is essential to figuring out what’s next for you.

At everwell we believe in community and in the power of shared experiences. It is for this reason that we are offering a group specifically designed for the unique needs of those in their 30’s and 40’s who have recently been diagnosed with ADHD or Autism. Our 30’s and 40’s can be a really challenging time. Many people are growing their careers, establishing long-term relationships, caring for children or parents, and more. It can be a busy and stressful phase of life. And add on top of that a new diagnosis of neurodiversity, and it can simply be overwhelming.

In this group we want to help reduce overwhelm, create community, help you process your emotions regarding the diagnosis and work towards accepting and thriving with your neurodiversity.

And we have the team to help.

This group will be facilitated by Lindsay Ryan, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).
Lindsay has her own lived experience of neurodiversity and has pursued specialized training in working with clients in her psychotherapy practice who have ADHD or ASD. Lindsay will be joined by Daniella Silvestri, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), one of our therapist interns with a special interest in this area and her own lived experience as well.

The workshop will be led by Lindsay Ryan, an everwell therapist with specialized training in neurodiversity.

This program is designed for anyone in their 30’s and 40’s who wants to embrace their recent diagnosis of ADHD or Autism and is struggling with:

  • Feelings of anger, sadness, grief, and/or guilt

  • Integrating feelings of relief or validation into their experience

  • Figuring out how to process this new diagnosis - “now what?”

  • Gathering and understanding information regarding ADHD/ASD

In this group, you will be supported by the facilitators and group members to:

  • Explore the role of self-compassion in navigating the diagnosis

  • Develop skills and awareness to help with emotion regulation

  • Delve into feelings of anger, fear, depression, burnout and grief through a neurodiversity affirming lens

  • Unpack societal and individual expectations to challenge unhelpful stories about ourselves

PLEASE NOTE: You must be a resident of Ontario to participate in this workshop. The workshop will take place virtually. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at admin@everwellcounselling.ca
