Certified Yoga Teacher
I am working on radical self-acceptance and self-love. I am exploring how to fully embrace transitions and aging and am hoping to share my journey with others.
My keen interest in health and wellness comes from a family with 40+ years in the industry. I wanted to deep dive into the practice of yoga - the union of movement and breath - that brought me so much peace and freedom. In doing so, I discovered I had a gift for bringing it to others in an accessible way. I felt a strong desire to share that so I could help others find their own way to the same peace and freedom.
I am really delighted to be a part of this amazing initiative at everwell and look forward to expanding my skill set, continuing to learn and grow, and being of service... to truly make a difference for someone.
Q & A with Suzy
What do you like most about what you do?
" My favourite thing is seeing people in my class visibly softening into their mats - hearing contented, deep breaths - and knowing that they have found peace and stillness within themselves. Witnessing this is beautiful and such an honour. "
What does 'integrated health' mean to you?
" For me, it means body, mind, spirit. It means a holistic view of a person - taking all aspects of their experience into consideration. It can mean working with a variety of models in order to find what works best for the individual. "
What does 'wellness' mean to you?
" For me, wellness encompasses body, mind and spirit. Wellness is rarely a recipe- instead I see it as a journey or process to feeling as good as one can in all three areas. "
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?
" That mental health issues only happen to 'others'. That challenges like anxiety and depression define a person. That the above challenges are solely chemical in nature."
How does what you do contribute to better health?
" Yoga is the union of body and mind - and soul! The union of movement and breath. This union allows for presence and peace. Yoga connects you with your body and brings about more awareness and sensitivity, with the added advantage of amazing physical benefits. "
What do you want your clients to know about you and what it will be like working with you?
" I am an approachable, sensitive and compassionate person and I came to yoga later in life. I understand how intimidating it can be to come to this practice and I have worked through my own ' I'm not a good yogi ' baggage. I look forward to helping you find ease and freedom through yoga, no matter what challenges or limitations you may be working with. My goal is for you to recognize your body as your primary teacher, and to empower you to use this amazing tool both on and off the mat. "
What do you value most in a client?
" Openness and a willingness to learn. "
What would like a client to say about you?
" That I helped them find something that brought them healing, peace and ease. That they felt seen and cared about. That I helped them live better in some way. "
Why should a potential client come to everwell?
" Because of the wonderful vibe you get when you walk in the door! Because here we care deeply about the well-being of our clients. Because we offer an integrated approach to wellness. Because it is a safe, compassionate place for their wellness journey. "
