Registered Social Worker
I am a holistic psychotherapist, yoga teacher, meditation teacher, registered social worker, coach, world traveller, and lifelong learner. I am an ally, an advocate, and a holder of hope. Above all else, I am a human BEING, who deeply understands the experience of battling through the trenches of trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression. I have learned some invaluable tools along my journey—both personally and professionally—that I am passionate about sharing with those seeking transformation and change.
Q & A with Janice
What made you decide to choose your current profession?
" I have always felt best when I am being of service to others in some way. I enjoy connecting with people, listening to stories, making meaning, and helping others connect with their most authentic and balanced selves. "
What does 'integrated health' mean to you?
" Integrated health is considering our whole being---mind, body, and spirit, as opposed to focusing on one single aspect of our being. It's all connected! "
What does 'wellness' mean to you?
" To me, wellness is a continuous process or journey, rather than a static state. It's about making moment-to-moment choices that are aligned with our values and best interests--physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. "
What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
" People are surprised to know that I have struggled with Anxiety and Depression. They think that I am just this zen, happy, always calm and always present yoga teacher and that I've always been this way. "
What do you want your clients to know about you and what it will be like working with you?
" I would like my potential clients to know that first and foremost, I am human! I am not perfect. I do not have all of the answers, nor do I have a magic wand. But together, we will come up with a plan that best supports you. I will listen, validate, hold space, and reflect with you, from a compassionately curious and non-judgmental standpoint. "
What do you value most in a client?
" That they show up, embrace vulnerability and the change process, and keep putting one foot in front of the other, even when it's hard."
Why should a potential client come to everwell?
" everwell is a safe, supportive, and wholesome place, with a range of services to access "
What is your personal mantra or favourite quote?
What's the one piece of advice you would give others about life?
" It's not a race! There is no finish line. Be present and enjoy what you have rather than always chasing the next thing! "
What wisdom would you pass along to the next generation?
" Stay in your lane. Don't worry about what everyone else is doing or achieving. Focus on yourself. Take care of yourself--Mind, body, and spirit, and the rest will follow! "
