At everwell Integrated Health Professionals we work with individuals who are experiencing the impact of depression on their lives. Depression can take many forms and varies in severity. You do not require a diagnosis of depression to seek counselling for depression. In fact, for many of our therapists, the label of ‘depression’ isn’t really very important. We will work with you as an individual and try to learn all we can about you and your life. We want to know what you are experiencing emotionally and how it is impacting all aspects of your life. We want to know how your thoughts are connected to your feelings so we can firstly understand the ways that thoughts are upholding difficult feelings and secondly help you to learn how you can work with your thoughts instead of them working against you.
Some people seek therapy for depression when symptoms are mild – maybe just a sense that they aren’t able to be fully present for the ups and downs of their lives. Others come to therapy feeling very low and unable to fully function day-to-day. If you have been to see a doctor about your depression you may or may not have been prescribed anti-depressant medication. Your doctor may have also suggested counselling or psychotherapy. Regardless of your path to coming to counselling, you are welcome at everwell and we will work with you to help determine a course for improvement. You CAN feel well again and we will help you get there.
Our therapists utilize a variety of counselling and psychotherapy approaches to help you combat depression and will tailor their work with you based on your individual preferences and needs. We use Cognitive Behavioural Strategies, Mindfulness, and Narrative Therapy to name just a few.
